The vessel(s) shown are NOT listed for sale by JMYS.
This web page has been posted to help inform trawler aficionados like you learn about this brand and model. The details published are from the promotional website that JMYS prepared for this vessel when we had her listed for sale. The written copy and photos depicted are representative examples of the Selene 55 model.
There are few boats as ideally suited for coastal and long range cruising as the Selene 55.
Her low profile flybridge and reverse raked windows with Portuguese bridge convey her offshore determination. Down below there are three cabins, owner aft, VIP forward and a bunk room to port. Two heads with showers compliment the interior layout. The engine room is accessed from the owner (and through a galley hatch) and many have a Cummins QSL-9 405 HP main engine on centerline with a Northern Lights 12kW generator.
The Selene 55 offers a considerable amount of additional volume and comfort to her sister ship the Selene 53. It’s interesting what a little more room will do to transform a boat, the Selene 55 has an extra 6” in the pilothouse (enough to fit a helm chair) and an additional 18” in the cockpit (making it a popular place for lounging, fishing and dining).
The aft deck (cockpit) can be enclosed and some models installed teak decks that extend forward into the walking side decks.
The saloon and galley are on the entrance level and shows off the rich teak interior. The sliding windows in the saloon and galley provide an impressive air flow while underway or at anchor and the entire living spaces typically enjoy air conditioning.
There are two basic layouts in the saloon. One offers a stairway access down to the owner stateroom forward to starboard. The other layout uses this space differently. The original buyer had a choice of built in settees or loose chairs.
Galley to port with excellent counter surfaces for preparing meals. A choice of electric or propane stove/oven. Refrigeration, freezing, storage lockers and drawers, often a trash compactor and/or dishwasher.
The pilothouse has an all-encompassing view and a great suite of navigation and communications electronics. Most have a helm chair with easy access to instrumentation and a bench seat with table behind. For boat handling you have bow and stern thrusters and for underway motion most have active fin stabilization. There are two opening doors to the side decks. The forward stairway to starboard leads to the lower accommodations level.
Down below there is a two stateroom – two head layout, or three stateroom – three head layout.
The owner stateroom is aft with access to the engine room and an ensuite head.
The VIP stateroom is forward.
Guests seem to congregate on the flybridge and boat deck while enjoying the world drift by at comfortable trawler speeds.
The boat deck houses the ships tender, launched by a crane.
On the foredeck, for anchoring, there is an electric horizontal windlass with two anchors at the ready.
The Selene 55 compares with sister models, the Selene 53 and Selene 57. Other brands that have a similar size and capability include the Nordhavn 55 and Kadey Krogen 58.
Each original build is unique, ordered with special requests. Those boats that change hands to later owners often get a refresh and improvements.
This model was introduced in 2005 and retired in 2019.
All built in mainland China.
